Where Rodeo Meets Community — and Everyone Belongs

The Wait is over...

The North Star Regional Rodeo returns July 25–26, 2026, bringing a full weekend of action, community, and celebration to Dead Broke Arena in Hugo, Minnesota. Join top cowboys, cowgirls, and cowfolk from more than 17 states and Canada as they compete in classic rodeo events like bull riding and barrel racing, alongside crowd favorites like goat dressing and wild drag race. Whether you’re a longtime rodeo fan or attending for the first time, there’s something here for everyone. The weekend begins Friday morning with a fun river float—an opportunity for competitors and fans to connect before the arena action kicks off. From there, the energy builds all weekend long with live entertainment, dancing, and a Saturday night after-party. Produced by the North Star Gay Rodeo Association and sanctioned by the International Gay Rodeo Association, this event is rooted in tradition while creating a space where everyone is welcome. Free admission to the Rodeo. All ages welcome. One unforgettable weekend.

Ride the River- Rodeo Kickoff

Kick off rodeo weekend Minnesota-style with our Friday morning river float on the Cannon River. It’s the perfect way to welcome friends, meet competitors from across the country, and start the weekend in a relaxed, high-energy setting before the arena action begins. Whether you’re floating with friends or making new ones along the way, this laid-back kickoff brings the community together in a way only a summer in Minnesota can. Participants will float through Welch Village tubing routes, with standard rental and access fees applying. Additional details, including meetup location and timing, will be shared as the event approaches. Bring your crew, dress for the occasion, and get ready to start the weekend off right—because before the rodeo begins, we ride the river.
The North Star Gay Rodeo Association has created an amazing space for the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate rodeo culture. It blends tradition with inclusivity seamlessly, making everyone feel welcome and appreciated.
